SO WHY REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is an ancient art of foot massage working the meridian lines in the body, and unblocking any build-up of calcium in these areas. The art has been traced back to Egyptian times and has been developed over the decades by great pioneers in the complimentary medical world. Dr William Fitzgerald developed the use of zone therapy in the early 1900 where he did extensive studies relating to the meridian lines in the body and their effect on the organs that lay along their path. Further development in Zone Therapy was made in the 1930ís by Eunice Ingram. Eunice developed the modern techniques of thumb walking or as it is now known, reflexology. Her techniques are still used today. Reflexology treats the whole body, and is beneficial in aiding a vast number of ailments. You can treat reflexology via the feet, hands and face. The pressure used by the reflexologist can be altered to suit to client, massage can be feather light, gentle, firm or stimulating.
Reflexologists canít claim to cure or diagnose but will suggest referrals to other complimentary or conventional health experts when necessary.
HOW CAN REFLEXOLOGY HELP ME?
Reflexology can be used to help restore the bodyís natural balance, encouraging the body to work naturally and restore equilibrium. Reflexology has been shown to be effective for: insomnia, back pain, migraine, arthritis, sports injuries, hormonal imbalances, infertility, digestive disorders, stress and asthma.
My background has been in managing large teams in both the Hospitality Industry and Floristry; it was during my previous job as a Designer Florist that I developed an allergy to some of the flowers leading to asthma. I was disheartened with conventional medicine and decided to look for an alternative therapy. This is where my love and fascination for reflexology developed. I was amazed at how the body could respond to the corresponding pressure points on the foot, so decided to delve into the practice.
I studied at the Central London school of reflexology under the tuition of Michael Keets I passed my ABC level 3 diploma in 2011 and am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists (MAR). I hold a current first aid certificate and am fully insured. I have continued to develop my skills adding Hot Stone Reflexology, Reflexology and Cancer, Hopi candles and Indian head massage to my repertoire.
Please have a look at the treatments page where I go into more detail about reflexology and the processes involved. If you still have any questions about reflexology or any of the other treatments I offer, please feel free to give me a call. I'm always happy to help where I can.
